Nicole Kidman looks like royalty in official Grace of Monaco pics; Weinsteins acquire biopic

Our first look at Nicole Kidman as Grace Kelly came last October, via a couple of unofficial photos taken on the set of GRACE OF MONACO. Today we’re bringing you two official stills from the Oliver Dahan-directed biopic, which show off a rather glamorous Ms. Kidman looking every bit the princess.

The film was just picked up by The Weinstein Company, which will open it this December, right in the middle of awards season. (Yes, kids, it’s time to start thinking about next year’s Oscars already!) Evidently the Weinstein boys will bank on it performing similarly to 2011’s THE IRON LADY, which grossed a very respectable $30 million domestically and, of course, won an Oscar for its leading lady, Meryl Streep.

GRACE OF MONACO, which sports a supporting cast including Tim Roth (as Kelly’s husband, Prince Rainier III), Frank Langella, Parker Posey and Derek Jacobi, chronicles Kelly’s move away from movie stardom to central figure in France and Monaco’s tax law dispute. Hard to think of any woman being able to step into the incomparable Grace Kelly’s shoes, but Nicole’s delicate, regal demeanor is likely up to the challenge. (She’s also still a damn fine actress.)

However, it must be pointed out that the below image could be a pic from Madame Tussauds’ Nicole Kidman Exhibit, amiright?
