Night of the Animated Dead images recreate familiar Night of the Living Dead moments

We’re just five days away from the September 21st digital release of director Jason Axinn’s Night of the Animated Dead, an animated remake of the George A. Romero classic Night of the Living Dead, and a handful of images have arrived online to show us how Axinn has recreated some familiar moments from Romero’s film. In the images below, you can see animated versions of the characters Barbara, Ben, Tom, and Judy in the midst of some of their most well-known scenes.

Axinn made his feature directorial debut with the animated horror movie To Your Last Death (watch it HERE). Here are the details on his Dead movie:

Presented by The Long Game in association with Hemisphere Entertainment, Night of the Animated Dead is an animated adaptation of the 1968 horror classic and includes never-before-seen, exclusive animated scenes not found in the original live-action film.

In Night of the Animated Dead, siblings Barbara and Johnny visit their father’s grave in a remote cemetery in Pennsylvania when they are suddenly set upon by zombies. Barbara flees and takes refuge in an abandoned farmhouse along with stranded motorist Ben and four local survivors found hiding in the cellar. Together, the group must fight to stay alive against the oncoming horde of zombies while also confronting their own fears and prejudices.

The Night of the Animated Dead voice cast includes genre regular Katharine Isabelle (Ginger Snaps, Freddy vs. Jason) as Barbara, Dulé Hill (Psych) as Ben, Josh Duhamel (Las Vegas, Jupiter’s Legacy) as Harry Cooper, James Roday Rodriguez (also best known for Psych) as Tom, Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica, Halloween: Resurrection) as Judy, Nancy Travis (So I Married an Axe Murderer) as Helen Cooper, Jimmi Simpson (Westworld, multiple episodes of Psych) as Johnny, and Will Sasso (MADtv) as Sheriff McClelland.

Some of the cast members missed out on Psych, but Isabelle was on the show, too. She appeared in two episodes, six years apart, playing different characters each time.

Night of the Animated Dead was produced by Michael J Luisi, Ralph E. Portillo, Robert Feldman, and Kevin Kasha. Richard Potter, Thomas DeFeo, and Jamie Elliott serve as executive producers.

It’s clear that this movie is going to be sticking very close to Night of the Living Dead, but press materials have also promised that it will contain “never-before-seen, exclusive animated scenes not found in the original live-action film”.

The digital release will be followed by a DVD and Blu-ray Combo Pack release on October 5th.
