Night of the Living Dead: Origins teaser is coming to get you!

Of the many movies feasting on the title NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD: ORIGINS always seemed to have the most potential. An animated prequel, it was at least poised to be something “different”; a project apart from the many lame wannabes.

But after checking out this teaser, my hopes of it being something special have diminished. I don’t want to judge it too harshly – it’s just a teaser, after all – but there’s really not much to get excited about here. (That’s just one schmuck’s opinion, of course.) Maybe we’re just seeing a test version of the animation that’s still to come?

The synopsis:
New York, a city of the hopes and dreams for many Americans, lies in ruin. The streets and skyscrapers that symbolized the strength and prosperity of a people have become places of horror and despair. The cultural hub of the western world is now home to only ash and blood. For the few people left alive there is only one dream – Survival. Zombies, the living dead, have taken the city. Ben and Barbra find themselves trapped and fighting to escape the hordes of undead that walk the streets.

Utilizing the vocal talents of Danielle Harris, Tony Todd, Bill Moseley, and Joe Pilato, NOTLD: ORIGINS does not yet have a release date. I’d be plenty surprised if it goes theatrical, as originally planned. (In 3D, natch.)
