Nightmare trailer: Norwegian thriller is coming to Shudder and AMC+

Trailer: the Norwegian horror film Nightmare is coming to the Shudder and AMC+ streaming services this weekend

After working as a screenwriter on horror and thriller projects like Varg Veum – Din til døden, Villmark 2, and The Tunnel, Kjersti Helen Rasmussen has now made her feature directorial debut with the Norwegian horror film Nightmare, which has landed international distribution through the Shudder and AMC+ streaming services. Nightmare will be available to watch on both of those services as of this Friday, September 29th – and with the release date so close, we thought we should share the trailer for the film. You can check it out in the embed above!

Here’s the synopsis: Mona and Robby are a young couple in love. Robby has just landed his dream job, and they’ve scored an amazing deal on a spacious, if run-down, flat. Never mind that it requires quite a bit of renovation. Never mind the neighbors’ constant fighting, and screaming baby… Never mind that Mona is suddenly plagued by night terrors which grow more intense every time she falls asleep… Robby is eager to start a family, despite Mona’s hesitation. Eventually, Mona’s issues spiral dangerously out of control as she becomes convinced that she is being attacked by a mythical demon – the Mare – intent on possessing her unborn child.

Nightmare stars Eili Harboe, Herman Tømmeraas, Dennis Storhøi, Siri Black Ndiaye, Peter Førde, Gine Therese Grønner, Preben Hodneland, Cathrine Sviggum, Cédric Béguin, Gaute Børresen, and Cédric Luceau.

The film was produced by Einar Loftesnes and John Einar Hagen.

Nightmare is presented in the Norwegian language, but will have English subtitles on the Shudder and AMC+ streaming services.

What did you think of the Nightmare trailer? Will you be watching this movie when it starts streaming this weekend? Let us know by leaving a comment below.

Nightmare looks interesting to me. I haven’t seen a lot of Norwegian genre movies, but I have seen a few that I enjoyed (like Dead Snow and the Cold Prey trilogy… I still need to get around to watching Troll Hunter), and this one seems promising. I will be checking it out for sure.

A press release notes that “AMC Networks’ Shudder is a premium streaming video service, super-serving members with the best selection in genre entertainment, covering horror, thrillers and the supernatural. Shudder’s expanding library of film, TV series, and originals is available on most streaming devices in the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Germany, Australia and New Zealand.
