Having acquired the worldwide rights to the psychological thriller Nightshade starring Jason Patric at the end of December (according to Deadline), SP Releasing has now given the film a theatrical and VOD release in North America – you can check it out on Amazon Prime at THIS LINK.

Directed by Landon Williams (Anabolic Life) from a screenplay he wrote with Sarah Smith-Williams, Nightshade has the following synopsis:

A homicide detective on the hunt for a serial killer experiences a series of disturbing dreams, which lead him to seek hypnotherapy and the aid of a psychiatrist. The treatment reveals undeniable parallels between his nightmares and the murders, setting him into a tailspin of paranoia and distrust.

The film stars Lou Ferrigno Jr. (S.W.A.T.), Dina Meyer (Starship Troopers), Patric (The Lost Boys), Tim Russ (Star Trek: Voyager), B.J. Britt (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), James Duval (Donnie Darko), Kenzie Dalton (Driven), and Jaime Gallagher (Pandemic).

I didn’t even realize there was a Lou Ferrigno Jr., let alone that he had followed his father into the acting business. I’m way out of the loop on this one; Ferrigno Jr. already has ten years of credits to his name, and has worked on 41 projects other than Nightshade and S.W.A.T.

A collaboration between Primitive Mind Productions, Audacious Dreamer Productions, and Blue Bow Tie Productions, Nightshade was produced by Williams, Smith-Williams, Ferrigno Jr., Gallagher, Casey Krehbiel, and Forest Robin. Carlos Sanchez served as executive producer.

SP Releasing CEO and President Steven Paul described Nightshade as “a really great psychological noir-thriller with a tremendous cast.” The director said, “I hope the audience pays close attention to the details – most viewers have not been able to guess the ending so far.”

The trailer for Nightshade can be seen below, along with some promotional art. After you check those things out, let us know if you’ll be watching this movie – and if you watch it on Amazon Prime, let us know what you thought of it by leaving a comment.
