In the line of 3D movies (PIRANHA 3D, SHARK ATTACK 3D, MY SOUL TO TAKE) and shaky-cam films (PARANORMAL ACTIVITY, TROLL HUNTER, CLOVERFIELD) there will eventually come that child that we all feared would pop out.
Silverado Studios is looking to start shooting a new horror film titled NO TRACE. NO TRACE will be similar to those POVs and shaky-cam films…but with a little spizzaz! Not only will the film be in that “personal” format but it’ll also be in 3D. “This is something that’s literally never been done before in a POV film”, says Torrey Loomis, Silverado’s founder. As if audience members weren’t blowing chunks from shaky-cam films, there’s now another reason to not eat before a movie.
“It’s a creature feature,” Chad Cruchley, the director of the film, says. “A group of researchers investigate an anomaly in a national forest and come to find out there’s a monster there”
Neat concept, difficult to watch. 3D cameras are notorious for it’s complexity. So what is Loomis and company planning to do about that? Obviously having a POV styled film captured in 3D would be a difficult task in itself. Not so. Loomis found a way to attach three small cameras on helmets that the actors would wear. Think of it as a miniature version of what is already used. Each rig costs $4,000 each. Quite the difference when compared to the super rigs that costs up to half a million dollars each. No lie.
Filming will begin this December in El Dorado County with the final wrap several months later. Should we expect a release next year? Probably so, people. Probably so.
