Nope teaser: trailer for Jordan Peele’s latest will be released on Super Bowl Sunday

Get Out and Us writer/director Jordan Peele‘s mysterious third film Nope is about to get a little less mysterious. A teaser trailer has arrived online this morning, and while this doesn’t show us much – really just the faces of the characters played by Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out), Keke Palmer (Scream Queens), and Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead), since most of the teaser is dedicated to show us moments from Get Out and Us – it also comes with the promise that we’ll be seeing a more substantial Nope promo this Sunday. Which happens to be Super Bowl Sunday. If you liked the use of “I Got 5 On It” in the Us promos, you’ll be glad to hear that the song is still around in this first Nope promo.

A few years ago, Us and Peele’s reboot of The Twilight Zone both had Super Bowl spots, so it seems fitting that Nope will be getting one as well. And since Nope is scheduled to receive a July 22 theatrical release, it’s about time we start hearing more about it.

Details on the story Peele is telling this time are being kept under wraps, but it has been said that the film will

follow in the same vein as his past two directorial efforts, terrifying and subversive tales full of socially-conscious thematics in regards to race and society.

Kaluuya, Palmer, and Yeun are joined in the cast by Barbie Ferreira (Euphoria), Brandon Perea (The OA), and Michael Wincott (The Crow).

Peele produced Nope through his company Monkeypaw Productions, alongside Ian Cooper. Distributor Universal Pictures is building this up as a “horror event”, such an event that it will even be playing on IMAX screens. Nope was “shot on KODAK film, including 65mm film in IMAX format.”
