North American rights to horror anthology German Angst go to Artsploitation

Independent distributor Artsploitation Films has acquired the North American rights to GERMAN ANGST, a horror anthology consisting of three segments, each centering on “love, sex, and death in Berlin” and each made by a different German genre director.

NEKROMANTIK’s Jorg Buttgereit directs the segment FINAL GIRL, which tells the story of

a young girl who lives alone with her guinea pig in a dirty apartment in Berlin… Is she alone? In the bedroom lies a man, bound and gagged…

The segment MAKE A WISH, directed by Michal Kosakowski (ZERO KILLED), features

a powerful ‘if-only’ scenario in which a young deaf-mute couple is attacked by a group of hooligans. However, they are in possession of a mysterious talisman that could help them…

And from TEARS OF KALI director Andreas Marschall comes ALRAUNE, in which

a man stumbles upon a secret sex club that promises the ultimate sexual experience by using a drug made from the roots of the legendary Mandragora plant. The ecstatic experiences have horrific side effects…

Early word on the film has it pegged as being just as brutal and gory as you would expect from the names involved, and just hearing about it already has me feeling uncomfortable and thinking that this might be the type of horror movie that’s a bit too extreme for my taste. But we’ll see how it goes as more viewers get to take a look at it.

GERMAN ANGST is currently making the festival rounds, with Artsploitation planning to give the film a DVD/Blu-ray and VOD release in North America in “first quarter 2016”.
