While we wait for the DVD release for SILENT HILL in August, the game’s home country is just getting the film in theatres!
Set for release in Japan in July, Sony are planning a sort of promotional event for the film. According to ITMedia, the producers are looking for approximately 50 cosplay fans to portray the Dark Nurses from the film (for the uninitiated, ‘cosplay’ is a Japanese subculture centred on dressing as characters from manga, anime and video games) and to shuffle and stagger about from a location near Tokyo’s Ginza Station to the Marion theatre complex on the morning of July 8. At the complex, these fans are to greet the customers by gurgling and limping towards them with rusty scalpals and hand them flyers.
The fans in question won’t be getting money for their hard work, but they do get to keep their Dark Nurse costumes, along with some movie memorabilia. Man, if only we could get this stuff done here in North America! SILENT HILL hits North American DVD August 22nd.
