Usually I’m not one to get excited over the latest found footage nightmare, but as SX_TAPE comes from CANDYMAN director Bernard Rose, color me thoroughly invested. It also comes from a PARANORMAL ACTIVITY and INSIDIOUS producer (as every other horror movie does nowadays), although in this case it’s Steven Schneider and not Jason Blum.

The film looks pretty much like your standard haunted hospital deal, but again, I’m counting on Rose to bring some extra atmosphere to the proceedings. Why this guy didn’t completely take off after CANDYMAN is still a mystery to me.

From the director of CANDYMAN and the producers of PARANORMAL ACTIVITY comes a found-footage nightmare of lust, possession, and destruction. Jill’s an artist. Ian’s a filmmaker. And their love life is off the chain. There’s no experience too wild, no dare too dangerous—not even when Jill lets Ian strap her to a gurney in the abandoned hospital they’re scoping out for their next art show. But he shouldn’t have left her alone. Not even as a joke. Now, Jill’s hookup with horror has awakened something in that place. Something with a lust for more than flesh.

SX_TAPE stars Caitlyn Folley and Ian Duncan; it hits theaters and iTunes on May 16th.
