Offseason trailer: Jocelin Donahue, Richard Brake movie coming to theatres, VOD

RLJE Films and the Shudder streaming service are teaming up for the North American release of director Mickey Keating‘s latest horror movie, Offseason. RLJE will be giving the film a theatrical, digital, and On Demand release on March 11th, and it will be reaching Shudder later in the year. In anticipation of the first stage of its release, a trailer has arrived online and can be seen in the embed above. A poster has also been unveiled, and you can take a look at that at the bottom of this article.

Described as “an American Gothic horror”, Offseason follows

a woman who travels to a desolate island town after receiving a mysterious letter and soon becomes trapped in a nightmare.

The film stars genre regulars Jocelin Donahue (The House of the Devil, Insidious: Chapter 2), Joe Swanberg (You’re Next, V/H/S), and Richard Brake (31, 3 from Hell), along with Melora Walters (Boogie Nights, Magnolia). Offseason was produced by Maurice Fadida and Eric B. Fleischman, through their label Defiant Studios. Kodiak Pictures handled the financing. The international rights are in the hands of WTFFilms.

Shudder’s Craig Engler said,

With Offseason, Keating has crafted an eerie, chilling nightmare that will haunt viewers with its uncanny terror and bone-deep sense of dread, anchored by a mesmerizing lead performance from Donahue.”

Keating previously directed Ritual, Pod, Darling, Carnage Park, and Psychopaths. He also hosted the Shudder talk show The Core. I have watched all of those, and I’m very impressed by the trailer for Offseason. This definitely appears to be his biggest movie yet, and looks like it has the potential to be the best one as well. I’ll be watching this next month for sure.
