A little over a month ago, we shared a trailer for the supernatural horror film MARA, which pits QUANTUM OF SOLACE Bond girl Olga Kurylenko against an ancient demon that attacks people while they’re experiencing sleep paralysis. At that time, MARA didn’t have a release date. Saban Films have now announced when they’ll be releasing the film, and its release date is not very far off.

MARA will be reaching VOD, Digital HD, and select theatres on September 7th.

Along with the release date announcement comes the unveiling of the poster, which can be seen below.

Scripted by Jonathan Frank, MARA marks the feature directorial debut of Clive Tonge. Described as a “shock-filled descent into fear”, the film has the following synopsis:

After a man is seemingly strangled in his bed, criminal psychologist Kate Fuller (Olga Kurylenko) interviews the sole witness, the victim’s eight-year-old daughter, Sophie. When asked to identify the killer, Sophie says, “Mara.” As Kate digs into the case, she unearths a community of people who claim to be tormented by a shadowy menace, a centuries-old demon who kills her victims as they sleep.

In the cast with Kurylenko are Javier Botet, Mitch Eakins, Lance E. Nichols, Rosie Fellner, Mackenzie Imsand, Dandy Barrett, Craig Conway, Melissa Bolona, and Gia Skova.

I’m a fan of Kurylenko, so I’m totally down to watch her take on a sleep paralysis demon next month. The actress’s other credits include OBLIVION, CENTURION, and HITMAN.
