Moon Knight is set to be the next Disney+ Marvel series to hit the streamer and now we are getting confirmation that, much like WandaVision and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, the show will be a one-and-done limited series.

During a conversation with Jared Leto for Variety, Oscar Isaac discussed the Moon Knight series and revealed he had never heard of the character before along with the news that the show will be a limited series:

“I’d never heard of Moon Knight before, and I collected comics when I was younger. I’d heard of Morbius, but I’d never heard of Moon Knight. I don’t know how the process was for you, because it’s a feature film, we’re a limited series.”

After revealing the intended run of the series, Isaac also discussed the advantages of playing a lesser-known character in an episodic format:

“There was a lot of room to try stuff because there wasn’t the pressure that we got to make sure we make however many hundreds of millions of dollars on the opening weekend. So we could make it very point-of-view. We could make very weird decisions. At the moment, at least – and I don’t imagine it’s going to go backwards – it feels like that’s where more of the risk is being taken because it can financially.”

Per the official synopsis for the show, “The series follows Steven Grant, a mild-mannered gift-shop employee, who becomes plagued with blackouts and memories of another life. Steven discovers he has dissociative identity disorder and shares a body with mercenary Marc Spector. As Steven/Marc’s enemies converge upon them, they must navigate their complex identities while thrust into a deadly mystery among the powerful gods of Egypt.”

The Moon Knight series was first announced in August of 2019 and Mohamed Diab was chosen to lead the directing team. Diab directed the first four episodes of the series while Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead were chosen to direct the other two. Filming began in late April 2021 in Budapest, followed by production in Jordan, which concluded in early October before moving to Atlanta, Georgia.

Moon Knight stars Oscar Isaac, Ethan Hawke, and May Calamawy. Mohamed Diab and the team of Justin Benson & Aaron Moorhead directed the episodes. Jeremy Slater is the head writer, and Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Brad Winderbaum, Mohamed Diab, Jeremy Slater, and Oscar Isaac are the executive producers. Grant Curtis, Trevor Waterson, and Rebecca Kirsch serve as co-executive producers.

Do YOU think it’s good that Moon Knight is a limited series? Moon Knight hits Disney+ on March 30, 2022.
