Lars von Trier’s ANTICHRIST is controversially controversial. I think that’s the best way I could describe how controversial this flick is. Yes I realize that means the controversy itself is controversial but just run with it. The film created somewhat of a wave at this year’s Cannes and has been opening eyes everywhere it’s hit… except mine. I’m sorry but I just can’t get into this flick. ANTICHRIST offers scenes of ‘nausea-inducing imagery — including a bloody masturbation scene and a leg-drilling sequence.’ Doesn’t necessarily make me want to be standing in line opening night..
But alas controversial flicks are always fun to keep track of. Just the other day we got a look at the UK quad poster for ANTICHRIST and today we’ve got a mess of stills for you all to check out! The film follows a grieving couple who retreat to their cabin in the woods, hoping to repair their broken hearts and troubled marriage. But nature takes its course and things go from bad to worse. The flick stars Willem Dafoe and Charlotte Gainsbourg as ‘He’ and ‘She’ respectively. According to imdb these are the only two memebers of the cast so it looks like we’re looking at a two person show… interesting. Right now ANTICHRIST is looking at a limited release here in the US starting October 23rd.
