The first official photos for Pamela, a love story, the upcoming Netflix documentary, have arrived to take you down memory lane. In addition to the images, Netflix’s Pamela, a love story documentary will be released on the streaming platform on January 31, 2023. Unlike Hulu’s Pam & Tommy scripted TV series, which profited off of one of the most traumatic events of Anderson’s career, Netflix’s documentary is an intimate and humanizing portrait of one of the world’s most famous blonde bombshells. Pamela, a love story follows Pamela Anderson’s life and career trajectory from small-town girl to international sex symbol, actress, activist, and doting mother.

In Netflix’s Pamela, a love story documentary, the fair-haired icon reveals her thoughts about Hulu’s Pam & Tommy, the devastating events concerning the stolen tape, marriages, and misconceptions about who she is in the grand scheme we call life. The presentation hails from Emmy-nominated documentarian Ryan White (The Case Against 8, The Keepers), who we’ve heard has taken great care with Anderson’s story.

Speaking with Vanity Fair about his new film, White says he got to know the real Pamela and how the experience was rewarding in ways he could not predict.

“I feel like a lot of them are about brand management or selling a product, whatever that may be. And Pamela’s the opposite of that,” White told Vanity Fair, saying his interviews with makeup-less Anderson lasted for hours. “From the very beginning, she was like, ‘You can ask me anything. I will talk about anything. I will be nothing but honest with you about it all.”

To ensure White had all the materials he needed to present an honest portrait of Anderson’s life, the blonde poster goddess provided the filmmaker with decades’ worth of home movies and journals. Each item of memorabilia gives a clearer picture of Anderson’s life as a model, mother, and woman of affection. “The infamous stolen tape, which we’re always very careful to call ‘the stolen tape’ and not ‘sex tape,’ was just one of hundreds of hours that they filmed,” says White, referring to the infamous tape that nearly ruined Anderson’s life. “There’s no calculation with how [Anderson] thinks about these types of things. It’s all just about being raw and honest, for better or worse. It made for a really emotional film and I’m really grateful that I got to work with someone like that.”

You can expect White’s Pamela, a love story documentary to reveal more about Anderson when it debuts on Netflix on January 31, 2023. In the meantime, you can check out a gallery of first-look images from the presentation below:
