So what was the last thing we heard about PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 2? Well SAW VI director Kevin Greutert was directing it of course! Oh wait… no he’s not. So much for that…
While Greutert is currently filming away on SAW VII we’ve yet to hear a mumble from the Paramount camp regarding PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 2. So what’s the deal? Who’ll be stepping in to replace Greutert? Well it seems there are a few choices in mind… And the LA Times have the scoop!
Let’s not beat around the bush, scope out the names being considered: Akiva Goldsman, Brad Anderson, Greg McLean and Brian De Palma. Yes, that Brian De Palma. It’s worth noting that the LA Times claim Goldsman, who worked on films like I AM LEGEND and A BEAUTIFUL MIND as either writer and/or producer, is out of the picture for director but the other three names are very much being considered.
Want the details? Mr. Brad Anderson has brought us films like SESSION 9, THE MACHINIST and TRANSSIBERIAN. Alright then. Greg McLean’s credits include WOLF CREEK and ROGUE. And I would hope SCARFACE’s Brian De Palma (above) needs no introduction. So where the hell did all this come from huh? Don’t get me wrong… I’m feeling any three of these guys in the director’s chair, but what a trio we’ve got ourselves here! Mind you I’d still love to see PARANORMAL ACTIVITY’s Oren Peli step in and continue what he started. What about De Palma?! Talk about ‘W-T-F.’ So what’re the chances De Palma actually steps up for this thing?
Mind you nothing is final but as soon as we hear something you’ll be the first to know! PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 2 hits theaters October 22nd of this year and doesn’t have a director, actors or a finished script. Uh oh.
