Park Attack Monsters

Any way you slice it, ‘South Park’ creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone are a couple of funny motherf*ckers. If their TV show wasn’t enough, their movies TEAM AMERICA, ORGAZMO and let’s not forget CANNIBAL: THE MUSICAL have never let a crowd go hungry for laughter. And according to Variety, they’ve signed on to do a ‘live action’ monster movie with Paramount Pictures. Oh joy!

Written by J.F. Lawton, who wrote the highly entertaining UNDER SIEGE and the upcoming DEATHRACE 3000, the new flick’s called GIANT MONSTERS ATTACK JAPAN!, which goes a little something like this: [MONSTERS] will combine live-action with the “rubber suit” techniques made popular in Asian imports like “Godzilla.” Nice! Can you imagine the fun times ahead with these guys rockin’ the comedy that those type of monster movies are inherently made of? Yeah!

The awesome thing is that you know it’ll be rated R, raunchy, and filled with enough colorful language to be able to quote it in your everyday life. The big question is witll they ‘play it straight’, making MONSTERS funny in a B-movie type way, or will they play it with a slapstick tone. For everyone’s sake, let’s hope they play it straight, as I think it’d be much funnier that way.

No word on whether it’ll be a musical or not, but I think this would be the only time when that would be ‘ok’, as their songs are generally funny as hell. Stick around for more news on GIANT MONSTERS ATTACK JAPAN!, as production is looking to start sometime next year.
