The adaptation of Steven Grant’s series 2 GUNS has slowly but steadily been gaining steam over these last months, and today’s news looks to be a large step forward in the project’s momentum. Paula Patton, she of MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – GHOST PROTOCOL fame most recently, is on the verge of joining her old DEJA VU co-star Denzel Washington in the role of his love interest for Universal’s adaptation of 2 GUNS starring Mark Wahlberg.

Patton took the realtively limited amount of character material given to her in GHOST PROTOCOL and really ran with it, so her involvement in 2 GUNS would be a definite plus in my book.  It of course doesn’t hurt that she’s awfully easy on the eyes…

Here’s a plot recap, though we don’t know for sure which actor is playing which role: A DEA agent and an undercover Naval Intelligence officer who have been tasked with investigating one another find they have been set up by the mob — the very organization the two men believe they have been stealing money from.

There’s no word yet on when production is expected to begin, but it can’t be long now that the starring trio is nearly set and a director has been found in the form of Baltasar Kormakur (CONTRABAND).
