A few years ago, director Sevé Schelenz's film SKEW creeped out and terrified our reviewer Dave Murray. Now Schelenz has a new horror offering that's about to make its world premiere at the Palm Beach International Film Festival, a movie called PEELERS.
With a style that's described as "Rodriguez meets Tarantino", PEELERS is said to be packed with exciting twists, baseball, strippers of unusual talents, and a strong female lead. The story, written by Lisa DeVita, goes like this:
What starts out as the last hurrah on the closing night of an infamous small-town strip club, quickly turns into a night of bloodshed when a crew of coal miners shows up and with them a deadly contaminant. Former baseball player and current club owner, Blue Jean Douglas has decided to hand over her bar to a new owner and leave town for good. But Blue Jean’s plans are thwarted when she discovers the magnitude of the epidemic that has been unleashed. With victims piling up, Blue Jean must step up to the plate to protect her family, her friends, and her bar before it's too late and she loses everything she holds dear.

The teaser trailer for PEELERS can be viewed below. Judging from what's on display within, it looks like this film is going to be one hell of a hilarious, gross good time. If it gets you hyped enough to want to see the movie as soon as possible, you'll need to get yourself to Florida next month.
The Palm Beach International Film Festival will be held from April 6th through the 14th, and the PEELERS world premiere screening has been scheduled for April 9th.
