I can’t front, the more I see of Paco Plaza’s stand-alone zombie scourge, [REC]: GENESIS, the more I’m inclined to think it might be the best of the bunch. I know, I know…as rare as f*ckin’ unicorn, but if there’s hope, working outside the Hollywood system has to be a leg up for Paco.

Burying the lead, I’ll have you know a French trailer for the genesis has flooded the net. We have it below, and in addition to the promise of massive bloodshed, I really dig the new lighting and color schemes that vastly differ from the glowing green cam-lights in the first two flicks. Just another reason this sucker might be superior in the end…

Hitting Spain March 30th:

Koldo and Clara are about to celebrate the most important day of their lives: their wedding. Everything appears to be running smoothly and the bride and groom and their families are enjoying a wonderful day; that is until some of the guests start showing signs of a strange illness. Before they know what’s happening, the bride and groom find themselves in the middle of a hellish ordeal, as an uncontrollable torrent of violence is unleashed on the wedding. Amidst the chaos, Koldo and Clara become separated and begin a desperate search for one another. What started off as an idyllic day quickly descends into a nightmare of the worst kind…

Leticia Dolera (below), Diego Martin, Javier Botet, Alex Monner, Ismael Martinez, Mireia Ros and Itziar Castro all take part in the mayhem.
