Penelope Mitchell joins Hellboy reboot as an elder witch

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

I’ve completely come around on the whole HELLBOY reboot thing. Of course I’m disappointed Guillermo del Toro won’t be able to finish his trilogy – especially after the cliffhanger of Hellboy potentially bringing about the apocalypse, as well as being a father that the second one ends with. But we gotta make the best of things. And the new one at least has a good Hellboy in David Harbour and Professor Bloom in Ian McShane, so that’s good.

Speaking of casting, it seems HEMLOCK GROVE’s Penelope Mitchell will be reportedly playing Ganeida, an elder witch who has decided that main villain Nimue (Milla Jovovich) – the once-titular Blood Queen – must be stopped at all costs. The casting comes off the heels of Ed Skrein publicly – and awesomely – stepping down from the role of Major Ben Daimio due to the casting’s inherent whitewashing.

Now, having not read as much Hellboy comics as I’d like to admit, I don’t know if this is good casting or not. So what do you Schmoes think? Either way, sound off below!

Meanwhile, HELLBOY will be back to smoke guitars and punch monsters in the face next year.
