Phil Lord & Christopher Miller are no longer directors of Han Solo movie

Well, shit. Typically "creative differences" which are strong enough to lead to a separation occur before a film begins production, but in the case of the UNTITLED HAN SOLO STAR WARS ANTHOLOGY FILM, it seems that even while in the middle of shooting, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller couldn't agree with Lucasfilm over the direction of the spin-off, leading to their departure from the project.

In a statement, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said that "Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are talented filmmakers who have assembled an incredible cast and crew, but it’s become clear that we had different creative visions on this film, and we’ve decided to part ways." Kennedy added that a new director will be announced soon. "Unfortunately, our vision and process weren’t aligned with our partners on this project," stated Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. "We normally aren’t fans of the phrase ‘creative differences’ but for once this cliché is true. We are really proud of the amazing and world-class work of our cast and crew." The UNTITLED HAN SOLO STAR WARS ANTHOLOGY FILM is still scheduled for a May 25, 2018 release.

Production on the project got underway in February, so it's not like we're only talking about a week or two of shooting here. According to sources, there were only three weeks left on the schedule, as well as reshoots set for later this summer, so something major must have happened to prompt the split this late in the game. Are we in for another round of extensive STAR WARS spin-off reshoots which completely reshape the film? Seems like it.

Who would you like to see step up as the director of the Han Solo spin-off?
