I’ll admit, hearing that THE HILLS HAVE EYES’ Alexandre Aja is directing a 3-D remake of the camptastic 1978 horror flick PIRANHA was a bit perplexing. It’s much the same way I reacted when I first heard that PIRANHA 2 was helmed by James Cameron. Just what the hell is it about these fish that’s so damn appealing?
Dread Central has a first look at some shots from the new film, which you may guess, is about a bunch of piranha eating a bunch of hot people. One a scale of army ants to Cloverfield’s giant whale-prawn, I’d say piranha sit at about a two in the “scary movie monster” cannon, but there’s just something about this franchise…
