Piranha 3D update

After witnessing the awesomeness that was MY BLOODY VALENTINE 3D this weekend, I can’t flipplin’ wait for the other 3D horror flicks coming out soon, mainly FINAL DESTINATION: DEATH TRIP 3D and PIRANHA 3D. It was a fun gimmick that looked absolutely amazing on the big screen, and I loved every second of it.

STYD caught up with PIRANHA 3D director Alexandre Aja while out promoting the MIRRORS DVD release, who talked a bit about where PIRANHA was at, and when we could expect a look at the trailer. Here’s a taste of what he had to say:

We’re definitely shooting in 2009. I don’t know about the release date, it’s difficult to tell but at the end of the day, we have to do what’s best for the movie. It would have been insane to have shot the film this winter on the water.

The original release date was July 24th… and since they haven’t even started filming yet, thank Zeus they’re not still trying to hit that! Starting in spring, maybe we could see it next January or February… doesn’t seem to be hurting MY BLOODY VALENTINE 3D any!

So when can expect that trailer? The hope is to have it attached–in 3D–to FINAL DESTINATION when it hits theaters August 21st. Nice! That’ll be pretty freakin’ awesome!

To check out more of what Aja had to say about the project, including what other Joe Dante movie the Piranha’s will take a liking to, click HERE, and go out and see MY BLOODY VALENTINE 3D if you haven’t already… it’s absolutely amazing!

Spring Break mayhem is gonna look great in 3D!
