Alright so what’s the deal with this PLANET OF THE APES prequel? Apparently the flick will be called CAESAR and 20th Century Fox were looking at several different directors for the job including Kathryn Bigelow, Robert Rodriguez, Tomas Alfredson, Albert and Allen Hughes, Pierre Morel, James McTeigue, Dennis Illiadis and Scott Stewart. Well sh*t that is one impressive list! So who got the job?!

None of the above! According to Deadline New York director Rupert Wyatt came out of nowhere and snagged the project. Well that works I suppose. So who exactly is Wyatt? His previous credits include TICKS, SUBTERRAIN, GET THE PICTURE, THE ESCAPIST and the upcoming BIRDSONG. What? You’ve never heard of any of these? Don’t worry… I don’t think you’re alone.

Then again maybe you have heard of Wyatt before? If that’s the case do you think he’s a good choice for this project? Hit us with your opinion below!

The only other details Deadline give is that Wyatt will be working on a script by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver. Well we knew that already. Actually both Scott Frank and Jamie Moss have also added touches to the script. So what are we looking at with CAESAR?

‘Caesar’ refers to the genetically altered leader of the simian rebellion, so dubbed because the ape was capable of grand strategic thinking on par with Julius Caesar. The ‘Caesar’ code name also foreshadowed the script’s plot: Like the actual Julius Caesar, the ape begins a (wait for it … ) guerrilla war and emerges the emperor of the known world.”

Well that’s different. No start date has been set yet but at least we’ve got a director right? Keep it here for more on CAESAR as we hear it!
