Founded by Michael Bay, Brad Fuller, and Andrew Form in 2001, the production company Platinum Dunes has been behind some of the most notable horror film releases of the last twenty years – many of them remakes and reboots. Over the decades, Platinum Dunes brought us new versions of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Amityville Horror, The Hitcher, Friday the 13th, and A Nightmare on Elm Street. Not to mention the Purge franchise, the Ouija movies, and the A Quiet Place films, among others. Then it was looking like Platinum Dunes was winding down. Fuller and Form branched off with their own company Fully Formed Entertainment in 2018, Bay started his own Bay Films. Fuller and Form then split so Form could join Sunday Night Productions. But now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Platinum Dunes is being resurrected, and they have a first-look deal with Universal Pictures, the studio that released Bay’s most recent film, Ambulance.

Bay and Fuller have come back together for this revival of the Platinum Dunes brand. Bay provided the following statement:

Partnering with Donna [Langely], Peter [Cramer], Jeff [Shell] and the entire team on Ambulance was a great experience, and I can’t wait to work with them on the exciting projects in the Platinum Dunes pipeline.”

Fuller added:

The experience we had with the Universal team on The Purge and Ouija franchises could not have been more collaborative, and we are thrilled to formalize our ongoing partnership with this new agreement.”

And Universal Pictures president Peter Cramer had this to say:

Michael Bay is not only one of the world’s preeminent directors, but together with Brad Fuller, he has established Platinum Dunes as one of the most consistently successful and innovative production companies in the industry. We are excited to welcome Michael and Brad to the Universal lot and look forward to building upon their amazing track record at Platinum Dunes for many years to come.”

In addition to the films mentioned above, Platinum Dunes productions have included The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, The Unborn, Horsemen, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Project Almanac, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, and Songbird.
