While directors Chris Miller and Phil Lord explained the title 22 JUMP STREET (the headquarters is moved across the street to a nicer facility), we still haven’t gotten much in terms of the plot. We know that Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill will be venturing to college in the second film and that they will be joined by returning costar Ice Cube along with newcomers Wyatt Russell and Amber Stevens, but no other details have emerged.

Now The Wrap has shared some plot points that help give us an idea of who the two cops will be going undercover as in the film:

22 JUMP STREET follows officers Schmidt (Hill) and Jenko (Tatum) as they go deep undercover at a local college. But when Jenko meets a kindred spirit on the football team and Schmidt infiltrates the bohemian art major scene, they begin to question their partnership. In addition to cracking the case, the two freshmen must figure out if they can have a mature relationship like real men.

What made the first film funny was seeing the cops get their undercover personas reversed and having to deal with fitting in with the wrong crowd. The plot for 22 JUMP STREET sounds like it is trying to reverse the role reversal which ends up just being a generic cop story. Hopefully the chemistry of Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill can make the sequel work. It also wouldn’t hurt to get another cameo from one of the original series stars. Richard Grieco, I am looking at you!

22 JUMP STREET is slated to open June 13, 2014.
