Pokemon: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution trailer caught ahead of U.S. release

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Ever since 1995, Pokémon has remained a staple of top-tier entertainment for children and adults alike, and now Netflix has announced that POKEMON: MEWTWO STRIKES BACK EVOLUTION, an animated feature film starring every trainer's favorite pocket monsters, is getting ready to take the United States by storm!

It all started when the official Pokemon page began tweeting with Netflix. Before long, it was revealed that POKEMON: MEWTWO STRIKES BACK EVOLUTION would be arriving on the streamer, complete with an English dub! As it happens, this is not the first time that fans have encountered the film, seeing as it went public last July, when the CGI-animated feature had its premiere in Los Angeles at Anime Expo.

“The ubiquitous reach and expert team at Netflix make them the perfect partner to bring this special animated movie to kids and fans around the world,” Emily Arons, senior vice president of international business at The Pokemon Company International, said in a recent statement.

“Netflix is the ideal platform to help us execute a global simultaneous launch of an animated Pokemon movie on Pokemon Day, a special moment dedicated to celebrating the worldwide Pokemon fan community.”

For the moment, no release date has been set for the film's Netflix debut, though fans are hoping to catch it real soon.

Okay, it's time for some real talk. I may have just turned 39 years old this past Sunday, but I am still a major Pokemon fan! Straight up, my wife and I are in midst of playing Pokemon: Sword and Pokemon: Shield on our respective Nintendo Switch systems right now! In fact, just last night, we made our way to the final gym, and we each have a monster team who're ready to battle their way to the top prize. Personally, I can't wait to see the look on Hop's face when we're announced as the new Pokemon Champion. Oh, I'm sorry, some of you probably don't know who hop is. In short, he's our rival, and the hyper-active brother of the current Pokemon Champion, Leon. He's been something of a nuisance throughout the entire adventure, and even though I commend his tireless tanacity for the pursuit of Pokemon, I'm still looking forward to seeing his frown turn upside down when we beat his ass into the ground. Mwuahaha!
