With MAD MAX: FURY ROAD finally landing on our shores, everyone’s in a post-apocalyptic mood. Perhaps that’s what led to the following: Alchemy announced today that the company has acquired North American distribution rights to THE SURVIVALIST, the critically acclaimed post-apocalyptic thriller written and directed by Stephen Fingleton which made its world premiere at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival. The film stars Martin McCann (THE PACIFIC, CLASH OF THE TITANS, SHADOW DANCER), Mia Goth (NYMPHOMANIAC: VOL. II), and Olwen Fouéré (THIS MUST BE THE PLACE).

THE SURVIVALIST is the near future story of a man eking out a meager existence on a secluded smallholding deep in the forest. When a starving woman and her teenage daughter discover his farm, his loneliness drives him to strike a bargain with them in return for bed and board. But as desire becomes stronger than necessity, the exchange becomes an uneasy, ongoing arrangement, which threatens not only his carefully constructed world but also his life.

“THE SURVIVALIST is a fresh, tense thriller that keeps you thinking while on the edge of your seat,” said Brooke Ford, Alchemy’s EVP of Marketing. “Stephen is a brilliant new talent. This is exactly the kind of discovery we’re looking to ensure reaches the widest audience possible.”
