PARKLAND is a retelling of the JFK assassination as told by the many affected by it on the day it transpired, including doctors, nurses, cameramen, F.B.I. and Secret Service agents, and the Vice President who would take control of the nation after that fateful day. Directed by first-timer Peter Landesman with an all-star cast including Paul Giamatti, Marcia Gay Harden, Billy Bob Thornton, Zac Efron, Jackie Earle Haley, Tom Welling, Gil Bellows, James Badge Dale, Mark Duplass, Jacki Weaver, Rory Cochrane, Ron Livingston, and Colin Hanks, the film follows these characters in real-time as the event transpires. Today, we have our first look at the poster, as well as six stills from the film.

Take a look:

Here's the synopsis:

A recounting of the chaotic events that occurred at Dallas' Parkland Hospital on the day U.S. President John F. Kennedy was assassinated.

"This is a movie about the ground truth from the ground level," says Landesman. "What surprised me was the power and poignancy of those who survived that day and the three that followed — the heroism, the instincts and the pathos of those swept up in this tsunami. This is an event that happened to individuals." Seems like this will be more of a moment-by-moment character piece about the individuals involved in the assassination, rather than a conspiracy pic, but that's still certainly possible as well. Still, if it's the former, then it could be a refreshing change of pace for the "JFK genre," especially with such a varied and strong cast.

PARKLAND will debut at TIFF next month and hits theaters on September 20, 2013.
