Prepare to practice Magic Magic on DVD in August

Last month we brought you the trailer to Sebastian Silva's latest film, the Michael Cera-starring MAGIC MAGIC, which ran as part of the Park City at Midnight program at this years Sundance Film Festival, and today we have the home video specs for the flick as it is scheduled to hit DVD on August 6 2013. From award-winning Chilean filmmaker Sebastián Silva (The Maid) comes the acclaimed thriller MAGIC MAGIC, available August 6th on DVD from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. Starring Juno Temple (Killer Joe, The Dark Knight Rises), Emily Browning (Sucker Punch, The Uninvited), Catalina Sandino Moreno (Che, Maria Full of Grace), Michael Cera (Juno, Superbad), and Agustín Silva (Crystal Fairy, The Maid), the film tells the chilling story of a naive young tourist (Temple) whose road trip across Chile with friends turns into a waking nightmare. MAGIC MAGIC invoked terror in audiences and praise from critics at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival. The film “offers a more than entertaining diversion from the typical blood and guts of the genre,” according to Sound on Sight’s Scott Colquitt. Exclusive to the DVD is the “Making Magic Magic” featurette, offering a unique look at the making of the film.

The films official synopsis reads:

In a foreign country, far from home, Alicia (Juno Temple) arrives in South America to vacation with her cousin, Sarah (Emily Browning). When Sarah is suddenly called away, Alicia is stuck on a remote island off Chile with three of Sarah’s friends, including Barbara (Catalina Sandino Moreno) and Brink (Michael Cera), an American exchange student with a sadistic streak. Bewildered, frightened, and unable to sleep, Alicia’s reality becomes a nightmare from which there is no waking. Ancient indigenous rites, disturbing animal behavior, and captivating hypnotic trances come together in an intense exploration into the darkest corners… when the games go too far, reality unravels with astonishing and deadly consequences.

MAGIC MAGIC was written by Sebastián Silva. It was produced by Frida Torresblanco (Pan's Labyrinth), Christine Vachon (Boys Don’t Cry), Mike White (TV’s “Enlightened”) and David Bernad (TV’s “Enlightened”). Executive producers are Giovanna Randall, Eric Laufer, Joe Healey, William Winget, Michael Cera, Todd Remis and Pamela Koffler.

It has a run time of approximately 95 minutes and is rated R for language, some sexual content and nudity.
