Prey: The Movie?

With PREY finally hitting stores last week to mostly positive reviews, you’d think that the hype surrounding the long-delayed title would finally die down. However, a promotional flyer included in both the PC and XBOX360 versions of the game have sparked the rumour of another video game-to-film adaptation.

The promo flyer that’s included with the game features the headline ‘Mystery Deal’, promoting the album PREY: The Soundtracks and urging gamers to go to this page. Once there, they must enter the following secret code: “prymvyscrnplycmng2007”.

The code unlocks discounted copies of the soundtracks, but some gamers looking at the code noticed the code appears to be a message of sorts: ‘PREY movie screenplay coming 2007’. Whether this is 3D Realms screwing with gamers’ heads, or in fact that there could be a film adaptation in the works is anyone’s guess. I mean, people thought that when DUKE NUKEM 3D came out that there was most certainly going to be a film adaptation involved in the future, and we all know where that’s been going. Looks as though we may have to wait until next year to see if this ‘secret message’ is more than just a promotional piece.
