The irony isn’t lost on the idea of the PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES movie coming back to life again; I thought for sure the project was dead since we hadn't heard anything about it since May of last year. The adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith‘s novel is finally happening and begins shooting in September. The film will star Lily James, Sam Riley and Bella Heathcote and will be directed by Burr Steers (CHARLIE ST. CLOUD, 17 AGAIN) with a script by Steers and David O. Russell (who was attached to direct once upon a time).

Per Deadline:

The adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith’s Pride And Prejudice And Zombies has been seeking big-screen life ever since the smash mash-up novel was published in 2009 — but through a series of director changes, it sometimes looked like it had one foot in the grave. No more. The movie version now is a reality with principal photography slated to start in September and Cross Creek Pictures acquiring domestic rights with a commitment for a wide U.S. release.

The movie has been through a lot of changes; Natalie Portman was even going to star at one point, although she’s still listed as a producer. Anne Hathaway, James McAvoy Blake Lively, and Emma Stone were also offered roles. So hopefully now that things are grounded they can make the movie fans of the book are expecting, and I’m sure expectations are high.
