Sony Screen Gems are doing a little juggling when it comes to their upcoming genre releases THE ROOMMATE and PRIEST.

Word across the net today is that both films now have solid, new release dates. Alright… this is Hollywood so this shite isn’t solid at all but it’s what we have right now. Previously planned to open on October 1, 2010, THE ROOMMATE now sits at September 17, 2010. It comes from director Christian Christiansen and stars Minka Kelly, Leighton Meester (below), Cam Gigandet, Alyson Michalka, Danneel Harris and Matt Lanter. Here’s the synopsis: College student Sara finds her safety jeopardized after she’s assigned to a dorm room with a new roommate, Rebecca. Well Leighton Meester is gorgeous so sign me up!

So it seems Sony has an open date on October 1, 2010 now… Not anymore. The studio just dropped PRIEST into that slot to replace THE ROOMMATE. Well that works. PRIEST hits theaters everywhere October 1, 2010, just in time for Halloween. Directed by Scott Stewart, PRIEST is about a priest who disobeys church law to track down the vampires who kidnapped his niece. To put it simply.. The movie also stars Cam Gigandet as well as Paul Bettany, Maggie Q and Karl Urban.

So there you have it. As of right now PRIEST now sits at October 1, 2010 while THE ROOMMATE is set to hit theaters on September 17, 2010. Keep it here for more on these two flicks as we hear it!
