Last year, and by last year I mean just a few days ago, I told you all about a ‘he-said-she-said’ moment in which Paul ‘Pee Wee Herman’ Reubens let loose the apparent rumor that Tim Burton was secretly working on a sequel to Henry Selick’s A NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS. Well folks apparently there is absolutely no truth to the rumor, or so says producer Derek Frey.

You see following last week’s news story the Tim Burton Productions executive and producer quickly told The Playlist that there was no truth to the rumor and expressed gratitude for squashing the rumor quickly.

So there’s that. Then again we’ve seen this many times before in the industry, where some news gets leaked then producers work hard to cover it back up when in fact the news was actually true… Thing is my gut is telling me this particular rumor is complete BS. Burton’s got a full plate right now and there’s been no other inklings of a NIGHTMARE sequel in the works.

What do you guys think? Any truth to this rumor or is Derek Frey spitting something valid? Hit us with your thoughts on this whole thing below and keep it here for more on this rumored sequel as we hear it!
