Production on Star Trek Beyond begins in British Columbia

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Production is now underway on the third entry in the rebooted STAR TREK series, STAR TREK BEYOND. Written by Simon Pegg and directed by Justin Lin, the new film has reportedly begun shooting at the Squamish Boulders in British Columbia, Canada, according to SciFi Pulse. Whether that location is accurate or not, we seem to have corroboration from two of the film’s stars: Zachary Quinto and Zoe Saldana.

Both actors shared images on their Instagram accounts to commemorate the beginning of production this week. You can check out the non-spoiler images below.

The film will see the return of the primary crew of the Enterprise including Chris Pine, Quinto, Saldana, Pegg, Karl Urban, Anton Yelchin, and new cast-members Idris Elba and Sofia Boutella. The plot of the film is currently unknown but it is expected to feature the original series’ “five year mission” as part of the story. Stay tuned for more details as the film continues production.

STAR TREK BEYOND opens in theaters July 8, 2016.
