Oh, PROMETHEUS . Even after your release, you’re still choosing to shroud yourself in viral videos and mystery. I’m not entirely sure why, either. We’re coming up on the Blu-ray, Blu-ray 3D and DVD release October 11th (10/11/12– get it?), everybody and their brother has seen it and all we really have left to look forward to are deleted scenes. Not even a director’s cut– just deleted scenes intended to help us understand whatever the hell was going on in the movie.

Or so you thought– now we have a totally new, super awesome packaging to sweeten the deal. The official Hungarian Blu-ray artwork has dropped (see below). Insiders are saying the US versions will very likely look the same. As much as I like the poster art Blu-ray design initially announced, this new one looks even better. I like the “creature feature” aspect of it that’s in keeping with Fox’s current slate of ALIEN-single disc Blu-ray releases. There’s thoughtfulness to it, a franchise cohesion between Blu-rays. They’ll look good lined up my shelf together and that excites me.

I’m not a huge fan of PROMETHEUS, but will certainly buying a copy of the Blu-ray when it hits shelves. Like it, love it or hate it, the film must be noted as the starting point of the ALIEN timeline. Then again, Fox was hyping the same thing with the ALIEN VS. PREDATOR movies and you saw how quickly they tried to discard that timeline. For me, any ALIEN film is worth owning on Blu-ray, especially ones directed by Sir Ridley. Yes, even if they don’t make a goddamned lick of sense.
