It’s official, folks! PROMETHEUS has received an R rating!
Earlier today there was a whole hubbub about some ticket stub revealing the MPAA rating for the film – which has been such a source of controversy and chatter these last few months – but we can just skip that malarkey and get it straight from the studio.
20th Century Fox has confirmed to Collider that the Ridley Scott picture has been given an R for “sci-fi violence including some intense images, and brief language.” Okay, guess that indicates we’re not getting any Charlize nudity, but the rest we can surely live with!
However, it remains to be seen if Scott is happy with the decision. At a Q+A in London last month, Scott gave the MPAA some shit, indicating that their system is faulty and hinting that he wanted PROMETHEUS to receive a PG-13 so that it would make as much money as possible. However, he also admitted to Empire Online that the film was “kinda R.”
Well, now it’s definitely R.
