Pussy Island: Channing Tatum, Naomi Ackie lead Zoe Kravitz thriller

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

MGM has picked up the global distribution rights to the provocatively titled thriller Pussy Island, which will mark the feature directorial debut of Zoe Kravitz. The daughter of Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet, the filmmaker has been acting for over a decade, with her credits including X-Men: First Class, Mad Max: Fury Road, the Fantastic Beasts movies, and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. She provided the voice of Catwoman in The Lego Batman Movie and will be playing the character in live-action in the upcoming film The Batman.

Channing Tatum (Magic Mike, 21 Jump Street) and Naomi Ackie (Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, The End of the F***ing World) are set to star in Pussy Island.

Written by Kravitz and E.T. Feigenbaum, the film will follow

Frida (Ackie), a young, clever, Los Angeles cocktail waitress who has her eyes set on the prize: philanthropist and tech mogul Slater King (Tatum). When she skillfully maneuvers her way into King’s inner circle and ultimately an intimate gathering on his private island, she is ready for a journey of a lifetime. Despite the epic setting, beautiful people, ever-flowing champagne and late-night dance parties, Frida can sense that there’s more to this island than meets the eye. Something she can’t quite put her finger on. Something terrifying.

Pussy Island is being produced by Kravitz, Bruce Cohen, Tiffany Persons, and Tatum's company Free Association. Garret Levitz is overseeing the project for Free Association.

MGM's Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy released the following statement after securing the rights to Pussy Island in a "highly competitive situation":

We are incredibly excited to be part of Zoe’s directorial debut. This is a timely and insightful thriller, with a biting humor that we anticipate audiences will be utterly captivated by. Pussy Island is going to be an epic beginning to Zoe’s directing career."

Well, Pussy Island definitely catches your attention with the title. I'm interested in finding out what the "something terrifying" on the island is.
