Back in November I told you how Timothy Olyphant was the first name to sign onto Breck Eisner’s THE CRAZIES, which in turn is a remake of George A. Romero’s THE CRAZIES.
Now I’ve never seen THE CRAZIES and I’m a fan of Mr. Olyphant’s so I’m actually giving this one a chance. Today we got the second bit of casting news via ShockTillYouDrop. It looks like Eisner has his leading lady in the genre Radha Mitchell.
Mitchell (below) has visited our wonderful genre numerous times, including PITCH BLACK, which was awesome, and SILENT HILL, which was ok.
STYD think Mitchell will be playing the wife of Olyphant’s sheriff character. The two will have their hands full when the inhabitants of a small Kansas town are beset by death and insanity after a plane crash lets loose a secret biological weapon into the water supply. Sounds good to me! While I’m not wild about Mitchell, I’m not sour on her either. So I’m still down for THE CRAZIES!
Eisner’s flick comes from writers Scott Kosar and Ray Wright with Romero producing. It’s pegged for a September 25th release date, though that can change. Keep it here as we hear more on THE CRAZIES.
