Red band trailer for Sinister 2 is full of blood and creepy kids

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

When SINISTER was coming out back in 2012, I had almost zero interest in it. It gradually won me over, and I did end up seeing it on the big screen. I enjoyed the movie much more than I expected to, so as we near the release of SINISTER 2 it's a very different situation for me. I'm really looking forward to seeing this one.

The newly released red band trailer builds up my anticipation level even more. The lunging picture jump scare is a bit lame, but beyond that this looks to be a solid follow-up to what was established in its predecessor. It also helps that I'm getting a really strong CHILDREN OF THE CORN vibe from the trailers, because I'm a sucker for the He Who Walks Behind the Rows franchise.

SINISTER writer/director Scott Derrickson and his co-writer C. Robert Cargill provided the screenplay for the sequel, but Derrickson was too busy with Marvel's DOCTOR STRANGE to return to the director's chair. He passed the helm over to Ciaran Foy, who is best known for the 2012 Irish horror movie CITADEL.

Shannyn Sossamon, James Ransone, Nicholas King, Dartanian Sloan, Robert Daniel Sloan, and Lucas Jade Zumann star in SINISTER 2, which shows what happens when

a young mother and her twin sons move into a rural house that's marked for death.

A couple sitting in front of me at the screening of SINISTER I went to were so scared by what the movie was showing them that they walked out before it ended. We'll see if SINISTER 2 has a similar effect on audience members when it's released on August 21st.
