The
RED SONJA comic book character (who was created by Roy Thomas and Barry
Windsor-Smith and first appeared in Conan the Barbarian Issue # 23) has impaled
the silver screen before via the 1986 RED SONJA, starring Brigitte Nielsen
(pictured right) and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
That incarnation flopped hard at the Box Office and Arnie has even been
quoted as saying: “Now, when my kids get out of line, they’re sent to
their room and forced to watch Red Sonja ten times. I never have too much
trouble with them.” LOL! Great man! Thankfully the red haired, PMS
inclined warrior is getting another shot at raking it in.

The new Red Sonja.
Nu Image/Millennium Films recently announced the return of RED SONJA with ROSE
MCGOWAN in the title role. The flick will be directed by Douglas Aarniokoski (from a
script by David White) and produced by McGowan’s beau Robert Rodriguez
alongside Avi Lerner, Boaz Davidson, Joe Gatta and George Furla. Production is
slated to kick in this October.
Here’s the synopsis: In her return we find Red Sonja, a young girl risen from the ashes of tragedy to become the most feared woman warrior of all time. The mythical red-head blindly seeks vengeance on those who destroyed her family. In her path of destruction she discovers a larger purpose for her unearthly powers: to save all Hyrkania from the villainous Kulan
Gath.
So what say you? Happy about Sonja’s
return? You buy McGowan as a sword taunting she warrior bitch? Spit them bullets
below and share the love/hate!
