Looks like the Asian horror flick remake onslaught is gonna keep on coming. The Nation reports that Thai flick SHUTTER will close a million dollar remake deal this week at Cannes with Regency Co. Reportedly double the money paid to grab THE RING, the film’s Thai distributor is clearly psyched:
“We used to be envious when other Asian movies were bought to be remade. Now it’s our turn, and moreover the chance comes with the highest price too,” GTH president Visute Poolvoralak said in a phone interview.
The story concerns a photog and his girl who begin to see strange shadows and images in his pics after they flee the scene of an accident. Hmmm, seeing creepy stuff that others don’t. That’s soooo different from the typical Asian horror concept.
Nevertheless, the plot is reported to be very unique and very scary. Guess we’ll all get a chance to judge for ourselves in a year or two.
