Regina Hall has nearly sixty screen acting credits to her name, but there's not much in the way of genre work among those credits. She was in the thriller WHEN THE BOUGH BREAKS, the Marisa Tomei movie DANIKA, and four of the five SCARY MOVIEs… but right now she's working on a "heightened" supernatural thriller that is described as a "spine-chilling story".

That thriller is MASTER, written and directed by Mariama Diallo. Hall is joined in the cast by Zoe Renee and Amber Gray.

MASTER will center on

three black women who strive to find their place at the celebrated Ancaster College, an elite university in New England. The school was built on the site of a Salem-era gallows hill and the ghostly legacies of Puritan-era persecution haunt the campus in an increasingly supernatural fashion. The plot examines how each of these women will — or won’t — survive in this space of privilege.

Hall is executive producing the film with Terence Nance. Andrea Roa, Brad Becker-Parton, and Joshua Astrachan are producing through their company Animal Kingdom.

MASTER is set up at Amazon Studios, and Diallo says,

Having the support of Amazon Studios, who rallied behind the film from the very beginning, has been so incredibly valuable every step of the way. I can’t wait for this unique and horrific vision to reach our screens."

Julie Rapaport, Co-Head of Movies at Amazon Studios, says the film will be a "timely, haunting thriller". So I'm looking forward to seeing how it will turn out.
