David Brent

Need more David Brent in your life? Then I've got some awesome news for you: Ricky Gervais is interested in making a movie with The Office character. THR has a new piece on Gervais, and when talking about future projects the comedian revealed that he wants to do a movie with the character. Ricky Gervais recently brought David Brent back for the Youtube series "Learn Guitar with David Brent." Although those videos were done for charity, Gervais says he'd like to do a film with Brent trying to make it in the music industry.

Ricky Gervais goes on to say he's also currently in negotiations to write, direct and star in another film, and would like to play a villain (the Riddler is mentioned) in a superhero movie. There's some other interesting/funny stuff from Gervais in the article, including "God-hating," and Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld picking on him for being poor.

(Side note: the title of the piece is "Ricky Gervais At Home: God-hating, Dinners with Seinfeld and a 'Kind' new show" and I definitely read it as "Ricky Gervais At Home: God-hating Dinners with Seinfeld…" so I was expecting to read about the two of them eating Chinese food or whatever while bashing religion. Now that I think about it, "God-hating Dinners with Seinfeld" would be a pretty sweet podcast.)

Gervais has done better with other projects (television, podcasts, hosting the Golden Globes) than with movies, but I would be game for a David Brent movie. Anything more than that might be too much, however one film could be a great final send-off for the character.

Ricky Gervais' television series Derek will be available for streaming on Netflix on September 12th, 2013 and he also stars in MUPPETS MOST WANTED, which will hit theaters on March 21st, 2014.
