Ridley Scott teases Ripley’s mother in future Alien prequel

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

One of the things that ALIEN: COVENANT sorely needed was Sigourney Weaver. And a plot. All jokes aside, I think a little Ripley would really help out the slowly failing franchise quite a bit. We don't need full-on ALIENS Ripley massacring xenomorphs, but a little Ripley goes a long way. Use her.

Turns out director Ridley Scott may be planning just that as he was recently talking to some blogger and dropped a few new hints about Ripley in future ALIEN prequels – or more specifically, her mother…

Ridley Scott on Ripley's mother:

We’re heading towards the back end of the first Alien, so that may be feasible, but Ripley’s going to be somebody’s daughter, obviously… I think you’re probably two films out from even considering her.

Well, there you have it. Not only is Scott indeed planning to feature Ripley's mother in one of the upcoming ALIEN prequels, but he has plans for at least 2-3 more films. While none of this is exactly new news, it's great to hear Scott talking about the return of Ripley in some fashion.

What do you think of this news? Are you excited about Ripley's possible return to the franchise down the road? Let us know what you think on Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram!
