PROMETHEUS, Ridley Scott’s maybe-prequel to ALIEN, is in full swing; with a cast that already includes Charlize Theron, Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender and Idris Elba, the supporting players are now being rounded out. Via the Daily Mail we learn that Rafe Spall, son of well-known British character actor Timothy Spall, has just come aboard the mysterious sci-fi project.

Rafe has done a lot of stuff in the UK that I’m not familiar with, but I certainly remember his brief but memorable turn in SHAUN OF THE DEAD as Noel, the jerky teenager who gives Shaun some shit at the electronics store. He also starred in HOT FUZZ as one of the two Andys (who also give Simon Pegg some shit). More recently, he portrayed William Shakespeare in Roland Emmerich’s upcoming period drama ANONYMOUS. (Yes, that Roland Emmerich.)

The Daily Mail article alleges that Scott’s team is now designing a monster that is so terrifying it’s scaring the designers! Pretty likely that’s just a bit of hyperbole, but it’s fun to imagine the possibilities… Oh yeah, the article claims this is an ALIEN prequel, despite reports to the contrary. Sigh.

PROMETHEUS begins shooting in London on MARCH 21st for a JUNE 8, 2012 release.
