We have been hit with some truly sad news today as Karen Black, the prolific actress who appeared in more than 100 movies and was featured in film classics such as FIVE EASY PIECES and EASY RIDER, has passed away. She was 74.

Black's husband, Stephen Eckelberry, says the actress died Wednesday from complications from cancer: “It is with great sadness that I have to report that my wife and best friend, Karen Black has just passed away, only a few minutes ago. Thank you all for all your prayers and love, they meant so much to her as they did to me.”

Karen Black was no stranger to the horror genre as she worked on dozens of horror films, including HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES, TRILOGY OF TERROR, BURNT OFFERINGS, INVADERS FROM MARS and so much more. Our thoughts go out to Karen Black's friends and family. She will be deeply missed.
