In the summer of 1995, two would-be Scottish historical adventure blockbusters went head-to-head at the box office: Mel Gibson's Braveheart and the Liam Neeson adventure Rob Roy. While Braveheart became both a blockbuster and an Oscar-winner, Rob Roy was only a modest success and was totally overshadowed by its competition.
