Rob Zombie’s 31 will be rated R after all

Rob Zombie fought the MPAA and Rob Zombie won.

Perhaps that’s not an entirely accurate description of what went down, but it’s a fact that Zombie’s new film, 31, was having trouble receiving an R rating from the MPAA in the past few weeks, much to Zombie’s displeasure. While the thought of 31 being NC-17 (or unrated) is cool, it remains true that if your movie goes out like that, it’s not going to be shown in many venues. Zombie wanted an R and it appears his wish was granted.

31 has been rated R for “strong bloody horror violence, pervasive language, sexual content and drug use.” Sounds like a Rob Zombie film to me.

31 centers on…

five friends who are kidnapped on the day before Halloween and are held hostage. While trapped, they must play a violent game called 31, in which the mission is to survive 12 hours against a gang of evil clowns.

Now we await a release date for 31, which will premiere at Sundance later this month. Might it actually come out around Halloween?
